The Rizal Memorial Stadium is the main stadium within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, located in Vito Cruz, Manila. It is known as the national stadium of the Philippines. Since it is located in the heart of Manila, it became an ideal location to hold sporting events
It served as the main venue for the 1954 Asian Games, as well as the Southeast Asian Games in 1981, 1991, and 2005. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as the Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) also hold some of their games here.
Today, the Rizal Memorial Stadium seems to be a forgotten reminder how great sports was in the Philippines. Its crumbling structure and aging walls reflect the current state of Philippine sports. It is a reminder of a magnificent age that once was, and a future that may never be. A world class training facility and the program is a necessity for the well-being of Philippine sports. Thus, the restoration of the Rizal Memorial Stadium will be very much appreciated.
